Biography

Malorie Letcavage is a family law attorney and litigator. Since entering private practice in 2019, Malorie has focused exclusively on family law and family law related matters in Maryland and the District of Columbia. Malorie advises clients through complex legal issues including divorce, custody, child support, alimony, and domestic violence matters, taking a compassionate yet strategic approach that is tailored to each client’s unique circumstances and goals.

Malorie understands that divorce and family related matters are often difficult and emotionally charged, and she is committed to guiding clients with empathy, clarity, and confidence. She takes a balanced approach that blends assertive advocacy with understanding and discretion, while also being practical and client-centered. Malorie assists clients through each stage of their case—from initial consultation through resolution—whether through settlement, mediation, or trial. While Malorie firmly believes that it is better for families to reach resolution outside of court when possible, she is prepared to litigate when necessary to protect a client’s interests. She is meticulous in her preparation and proactive in her strategy, ensuring clients are heard, informed, and empowered throughout their case.

Prior to beginning in private practice, Malorie served as a judicial law clerk to the Honorable Robert Okun in the Superior Court of the District of Columbia. This experience provided her a unique perspective into courtroom procedures and the dynamics of litigation, as well as invaluable insight into the judicial decision-making process. Malorie observed numerous hearings and trials, deepening her understanding of effective advocacy and the practical application of legal principles. She developed strong analytical and writing skills and honed her ability to assess legal arguments with precision and objectivity. This formative experience continues to inform her work as a family law attorney, where her insight into judicial expectations and effective courtroom strategy benefits clients navigating the legal system.

In addition to her practice, Malorie is an active member of the legal community. She has held leadership roles with the Bar Association of Montgomery County, at different times serving as the Co-Chair and Programming Co-Chair of the Family Law Section. She is also a member of the Montgomery County Maryland Inns of Court, the D.C. Chapter of the Women’s Bar Association, the D.C. Bar Association, and the Maryland State Bar Association.

Committed to giving back, Malorie volunteers her time with the Montgomery County Circuit Court Self-Help Center, assisting unrepresented individuals with family law issues on a pro bono basis.
